Großer Umbruch in Köln

Nachdem für die Köln 99ers in der vergangenen Saison der Abstieg in die zweite Liga feststand, versuchten die Verantwortlichen einen Großteil des Kaders zu halten, um mit dem Team den Wiederaufstieg zu schaffen. Doch es sollte anders kommen.

Verschiedene Gründe auf beiden Seiten ließen dieses Ziel nicht umsetzen und so müssen wir uns bedauerlicherweise von zahlreichen Spielern verabschieden. Wir bedanken uns bei allen Akteuren für ihr überaus großes Engagement in einer nicht einfachen Saison, die wir gemeinsam bestritten haben und wünschen allen auf ihrem neuen Weg alles erdenklich Gute.

Hillevi Hanson zieht es zu einem Topclub in Europa, wo sie sicher einen weiteren großen Schritt in ihrer Entwicklung nehmen wird. Zum Abschied grüßt sie alle in Köln mit den Worten: „I really appreciated the opportunity to play with Köln 99ers and to have Mathew Foden as coach. I knew it was going to be hard being a part of such a good team with my former experience, and it was. At the same time, all my teammates and Mat really helped me to evolve into the player I am today. Thanks for this time and auf Wiedersehen!“

Jontee Brown konnte sich ebenfalls in seiner Premierensaison in Köln gut entwickeln. Auch von ihm haben wir ein Statement, dass wir gerne mit euch teilen: „I appreciate Köln for giving me the opportunity to improve my game, being still new to the sport it was a great opportunity to head abroad and compete against the best players in the world!
Thank you to Mat, Freddy and Sedat for all their help throughout the season and to the supporters we had each and every game!
Massive thank you to Mat for all the training and hard work he put in to help improve not only myself but such a young team! Very happy I got to experience the European leagues and a massive thank you to Köln 99ers for allowing me to live within the beautiful city of Köln!
I wish everyone at the organisation the very best for next season and the future!“

Marten Lilja und Olle Svensson haben sich zum Verbleib in Schweden entschieden und stehen somit in der nächsten Saison auch nicht mehr im Kader der Domstädter.

Harry Blyth wird sich ebenfalls einem europäischen Club anschließen und sich dort neu orientieren.
„I have enjoyed my time at the 99ers. I can’t thank the staff and volunteers enough for the opportunity and support they have given me. Unfortunately the season didn’t go to plan but the team stuck together throughout, with a little more experience and time things might have been different. I wish the club the best of luck in the future.“, so der sympatische Brite zu seinem Abschied aus Köln.

Alle 5 Spieler haben im Laufe der vergangenen Saison individuell aber auch als Team einen großen Entwicklungsschritt machen können. Allen möchten wir an dieser Stelle nochmal ganz herzlich danken. Sie haben sich mit ihrem Engagement auf und neben dem Spielfeld viele Freunde in der Domstadt gemacht und den Club bereichert.

Wir bleiben mit allen in Kontakt und wer weiß, vielleicht kommt man in einer anderen Saison wieder zusammen. Wir würden uns sehr darüber freuen.

In den nächsten Tagen werden wir zur Kaderzusammensetzung der 1.Mannschaft ausführlich berichten.
